Some things in life just belong together. What’s peanut butter without jelly? Or cookies without milk? Or Caty McNally without Jessica Pegula? McNally and Pegula first played doubles together in 2018.  he duo would win their first event playing together in October. Just over three months later, at the 2019 Dow Tennis Class, the duo has a chance to take home some silverware again.

Coming into a matchup with the tournament’s defending champion and with a potential match-up against the top seed, some might’ve said all the pressure in the world was on Caty McNally to perform Friday afternoon.

After a tight first couple of games, Rebecca Peterson was able to seize control of the match and put in a strong performance as she cruised into the quarterfinals with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Coco Gauff. For the second day in a row the tournament’s top seed, Peterson, has made easy work of her opponent as she’s claimed back-to-back straight set victories in her 2019 DTC Campaign.

Just over three months ago, Caty McNally was getting ready for the $80K event in Macon, Georgia. It had been over seven months since she last advanced past the quarterfinals in either singles or doubles. That week in Macon, Caty righted the ship as she and her partner, Jessica Pegula, claimed their first doubles title as a team.

Last year’s Dow Tennis Classic (DTC) Finalist Jamie Loeb dropped the first set, but rallied back to take a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory in the opening round of the Dow Tennis Classic.

Emina Bektas knows that when you have a chance to win two matches in a row, a slow start must be avoided at all costs. On Monday, Bektas did just that as she rode the momentum of a 6-1 first set, to a swift 6-1, 6-4 win over Mari Osaka and moved within one match of the main draw at the 2019 Dow Tennis Classic (DTC).
