Madison Brengle of Dover, Delaware will be headlining the competition for the Dow Tennis Classic as the No. 1 seed.
No stranger to the Meredith McGrath stadium court, Brengle was last seen in Midland at last year's Dow Corning Tennis Classic where she reached the singles quarterfinals before losing to eventual champion Naomi Broady.
Currently No. 69 in the world, Brengle is the highest-ranked of the 32 women in the main draw. Brengle rose to prominence in 2015 after defeating No. 13 seed Andrea Petkovic and advancing to the fourth round of the Australian Open. Earlier this month Brengle defeated world No. 2 Serena Williams at the ASB Classic in Auckland, Australia.
Brengle holds 14 ITF Pro Circuit singles and doubles titles overall (eight in singles, six in doubles). She has also competed in all four Grand Slam events.
